Silent Sirens
Audiovizuální večer, hudba Duncan Hendy, VJ David Konečný. Paralelní projekce video-mixing filmů z éry němého filmu a živé hudební vystoupení v obsazení housle, flétna, klarinet, basový klarinet, fagot a klavír hrající několik minimalistických skladeb.

Mary Pickford, the first real star of Hollywood from the silent era, once said that if film were truly an art form, then the silent period would have come at the end. "Silent Sirens" is an audio visual installation based on a suite of minimalist compositions played live in the space by a six-piece ensemble comprising violin, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon and piano. The suite of pieces focuses on different aspects of the feminine in the silent period (Lillian Gish, Greta Garbo, Louise Brooks, Falconetti, Evelyn Brent, Norma Talmadge); the stylisation is in a contemporary format, that of VJing over live musical performance. The clips are manipulated live along a time line representing the transformative and repetitive minimalist nature of the musical material. Retrograde, inversion and development through distortion of the image and beautification of the source material reflects the complexity of the female performance during the silent period and the minimalist style of musical format. People do not remain static. Their essence is their poise and communication. Both the VJing and the live concert are bound together by their nature, each dependent on the other. The visual sources are clips of "Silent Sirens" arranged into 5 movements. The VJing is both a developed performance according to the music, as well as spontaneous and constantly changing part of the installation.

Mary Pickford, první skutečná hvězda němého Hollywoodu, kdysi prohlásila, že pokud by film byl opravdu uměním, éra němého filmu by měla přijít až na jeho konci. Projekt Silent Sirens je audiovizuální instalací založenou na souboru minimalistických skladeb, hraných živě šestičlenným souborem (housle, flétna, klarinet, basový klarinet, fagot a klavír). Jednotlivé skladby jsou inspirované různými aspekty ženství, jak jej zosobnily hvězdy stříbrného plátna: Lillian Gish, Greta Garbo, Louise Brooks, Falconetti, Evelyn Brent, Norma Talmadge a další. Moderní stylizace celého díla obsahuje prvky Vjingu, které doplňují živé hudební vystoupení. Záběry z němých filmů jsou živě manipulovány v čase a představují tak svébytný doplněk minimalistické hudební složky. Jejich plynulé proměny odráží především složitost a všestrannost ženských hereckých výkonů a zároveň i minimalistický styl zvoleného hudebního formátu. Postavy jsou v neustálém pohybu, nikoli strnulé, ale výrazné a sdělné. VJing a živá hudba, tj. pět skladeb, ze kterých se skládá cyklus Silent Sirens, jsou v neustálém spojení. Manipulace obrazového materiálu je tak závislá na hudební složce, ale zároveň představuje spontánní a neustále se měnící součást celého představení.
